They have a long bloom cycle from mid summer to fall. Flowers can be used for fresh cut flowers or dried for everlasting flower arrangements. Plants do best in full sun, with moderate moisture and well-drained soil. Plants will thrive in long, hot summers. It is an easy-to-grow plant that can be grown in containers.
Sow after danger of frost, but only if you have long summers. Start indoors 6 – 8 weeks before last frost in hardiness zones below 7. The best soil temperature for germination is 70°F Germination should occur in 5-20 days.
Sow seeds on the surface of the soil, as they need light to germinate. Water from below or use a mister to avoid disturbing the seeds. Space plants 12-18″ apart, and only transplant once the night time temperatures are consistently above 50°F.
